It was surprising to see a policeman accidentally shoots his colleague in the leg at Nyayo stadium when they were trying to control the crowd troubles after the match.
In the process of doing to disperse the crowd, one policeman got a gun shot in his leg and that raised questions – what was the aim of that bullet if indeed they wanted to disperse the crowd? Wasn’t that an act of shoot to kill? And what if the live bullet had missed the policeman? It would have probably landed on a player or a fan.
One would wonder why the guns would be loaded with live bullets, which our careless policemen use to aim at unarmed fans who just turn rowdy out of excitement or anger.
Rubber bullets can work so well but since our policemen don’t know how to handle situations, that serves them well. Quite a hard one it was to deal with but our policemen should be properly trained on crowd control because their way of doing it is a bit unorganized and unprofessional.
